Seeing all the #atprotonyc posts from a rainy Tallinn, I have nerd/music-sniped myself into something insane, which I hope will never come to fruition.

Effective Change vs Slop-Shaming

Quoting Anil Dash.

I felt unusually frustrated and sad last night about the recent LLM discourse I’ve been seeing —from both “sides”. Microblogging makes conveying the nuance difficult, but Anil points in the right direction here imho.

@anildash.com avatarAnil Dash@anildash.com

The dialogue around LLMs is kind of broken both in terms of critique and advocacy. For critique, we need to focus on how we attack fascist tech power consistently — LLMs are only one part of that; merely saying "AI bad" has simply ended up with a lot of people using AI quietly while feeling shame...

I used to manage the team that ran the platform for Estonia's gov API integrations and I jokingly proposed having an outage day to make sure our critical services keep functioning in case of an outage 😅

@madoka.systems avatarwinter@madoka.systems

honestly they need to take down the appview for at least 4 hours daily

Back when I worked for EE gov, I used to joke that our business model was incident-driven. When something failed horribly, that's what usually got funding and prioritization. I imagine we've learned a lot through this outage #hugops

No business logic here. Just pleasure logic.

My government (Estonia) is talking about giving personal ID-codes (kinda like passport numbers, but with PKI) to LLM agents. This feels to me like them trying to stay ahead of the curve so much that they have fallen off and experienced severe brain damage.

I am trying to communicate atproto and "credible exit" in general to friends and family that aren't technologists. How could this be improved? And did I get anything wrong? I'm trying to get familiar with all the details.

A very non-technical post on why I am really into atproto.

Does anybody have experience with being labelled "needs-review"? Discovered it randomly when debugging why my replies disappeared from the "comments" on my blog. Couldn't figure out why it might have been triggered, only correlation time-wise was signing up for Popfeed 🤷‍♂️. Have messaged support.

I recently discovered Merriam-Webster's Time Traveler feature which tells you which words are the same age as you.
I'm convinced there are 5 words from your birth year that perfectly describe your vibe.
