Terms of Service
Last updated: April 2026
Operated by Singi Labs, Netherlands. Contact: legal@sifa.id
1. Who we are
Sifa ID is operated by Singi Labs, based in the Netherlands. These terms govern your use of Sifa (sifa.id). By using Sifa, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
For how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
Sifa is currently in alpha testing. This means you're using a pre-release version of the service. During the alpha period: features may be added, changed, or removed without prior notice; data stored in Sifa's own database (such as activity statistics and notification preferences) may be lost or reset; and the service may be interrupted or discontinued at any time. By using Sifa during the alpha period, you acknowledge these risks. This doesn't affect data stored in your Atmosphere account, which remains under your control at all times.
2. What Sifa does
Sifa is a professional identity network built on the AT Protocol, an open standard for decentralised social and professional apps. It lets you:
- Create and manage a professional profile (positions, skills, education, and more)
- Import your professional history from LinkedIn
- Show your activity across AT Protocol apps (Bluesky, Tangled, Whitewind, and others)
- Connect with other professionals on the AT Protocol network
Your profile data is stored in your Atmosphere account (your Personal Data Server on the AT Protocol), not on Sifa's servers. Sifa keeps an indexed copy of your professional profile records in its own database for search and display, but the authoritative copy is always yours. We read from and write to your Atmosphere account on your behalf, but your data belongs to you.
If you're new to the AT Protocol and want to understand how your account works, atmosphereaccount.com is a good starting point. For a fuller explanation of what data Sifa processes, see sections 2 and 3 of our Privacy Policy.
3. Your account
Signing in
You sign in with your existing Atmosphere account (for example, your Bluesky account). Sifa doesn't create or manage Atmosphere accounts. Your identity is managed by your account provider.
When you sign in, you authorize Sifa to read from and write to specific collections in your Atmosphere account via AT Protocol OAuth, within the permissions you grant. You can revoke this authorization at any time through your account provider's settings.
Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years old to use Sifa. If you're under 18, please don't use the service. Verifying your age is your responsibility.
Your responsibility
You're responsible for:
- Keeping your Atmosphere account secure
- Everything that happens through your account on Sifa
- The accuracy of the information you publish on your profile (see section 6)
4. Your data
Your professional profile data is stored in your Atmosphere account. Sifa also keeps an indexed copy in its own database for search and display purposes. You can view, edit, or delete your profile data through Sifa, or directly through your Atmosphere account provider.
Sifa stores additional data in its own database: activity statistics, people notes, external account verifications, email address (if provided), notification preferences, import metadata, and session data. See our Privacy Policy for the full list, legal bases, and retention periods.
If Sifa shuts down, your Atmosphere account data stays intact. It's accessible through any compatible AT Protocol app. The id.sifa.* lexicon schemas are published under the MIT license, so anyone can build compatible tools. If Sifa is acquired or dissolves, see section 14 of our Privacy Policy for how we handle data in our database.
5. What you can and can't do
You can
- Use Sifa to manage your professional profile
- Import data from LinkedIn
- View other users' public profiles
- Hide apps or items from your own Sifa profile
- Delete your account and request removal of your data
- Build tools or services that interact with Sifa's public data via the AT Protocol (that's the whole point of an open protocol)
You can't
- Pretend to be someone you're not, or create a misleading profile
- Use Sifa to harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Scrape Sifa at a scale or rate that degrades the service for others
- Attempt to access other users' accounts or non-public data
- Use Sifa to distribute spam, malware, or illegal content
- Circumvent rate limits or abuse prevention measures
- Use the service if you're under 18
This isn't an exhaustive list. If something feels obviously wrong, it probably is. See our Community Guidelines for more detail on how we expect people to behave.
What happens if you break these rules
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Sifa. If we do, we'll provide a clear statement of the reasons, including the specific rule violated, unless doing so would compromise safety or an ongoing investigation. Suspension means we stop displaying your profile on Sifa. It doesn't affect your Atmosphere account data or your data in other apps.
For serious or repeated violations, we may add your DID (Decentralised Identifier, a permanent account identifier on the AT Protocol) to our suppression list to prevent re-registration. Before doing so, we'll notify you and give you an opportunity to respond, except in cases involving imminent safety risks or manifestly illegal content.
You can appeal any moderation decision by emailing appeals@sifa.id within 30 days. We'll review your appeal and respond within 14 days.
6. Content on your profile
Your content, your responsibility
Everything you publish through Sifa is written to your Atmosphere account and becomes publicly available on the AT Protocol. This means it's readable by anyone: other apps, search engines, and anyone on the internet. You're responsible for making sure your profile content is:
- Accurate (don't claim degrees you don't have or positions you didn't hold)
- Legal (don't publish content that violates applicable law)
- Yours to share (don't publish someone else's information without their permission)
Endorsements
Other users can endorse your skills through Sifa. You can remove any endorsement you've received from your Sifa profile. You can also retract endorsements you've given to others.
Our rights to your content
We don't own your content. It lives in your Atmosphere account and you control it. We don't claim any intellectual property rights over profile data you create through Sifa.
Because the AT Protocol is an open network, your public data is accessible to any compatible application. We do need a limited right to display, cache, index, and feature your public records in order to run the service (including featuring profiles on our social media accounts and displaying profiles in embeds on third-party sites). By using Sifa, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to do that. This license ends when you delete the relevant records from your Atmosphere account or request removal from Sifa. Other AT Protocol applications may independently retain cached copies under their own terms.
Content we can remove from Sifa
We may remove or hide content from Sifa's interface if it violates these terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law. Removing content from Sifa doesn't delete it from your Atmosphere account or the AT Protocol. To delete data from the protocol, use your account provider's settings.
7. Email notifications
If you choose to provide your email address, we'll only use it for what you've opted into: notifications, newsletters, or both. You control this in your account settings and can change your preferences or remove your email at any time.
Full details are in section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
8. Service availability and liability
Your statutory rights
Your statutory rights under EU and Dutch consumer protection law are unaffected by these terms.
As-is service
To the extent permitted by applicable law, and subject to your statutory rights, Sifa is provided without additional warranties beyond what the law requires. We don't guarantee that:
- The service will be available at all times
- The data we display will be accurate or complete
- The service will meet your specific needs
- Bugs or errors will be fixed within any particular timeframe
Your Atmosphere account data is unaffected by any of the above. If Sifa goes down, your professional identity doesn't go down with it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability for any claims arising from these terms or your use of Sifa shall not exceed EUR 100. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by our negligence, (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, (c) gross negligence or willful misconduct, or (d) any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the AVG/GDPR.
Third-party data and services
Sifa reads data from the AT Protocol network, including data from other apps (Bluesky, Tangled, Whitewind, etc.). We don't control that data and aren't responsible for its accuracy, availability, or content. If another app's data appears on your Sifa profile and you want it hidden, use your Sifa activity settings.
9. Intellectual property
Ours
The Sifa name, logo, website design, and application code are the intellectual property of Singi Labs. You can't use our branding without permission.
Yours
Your profile content belongs to you. The id.sifa.* lexicon schemas are published under the MIT license, meaning anyone can build compatible tools.
The protocol
The AT Protocol is an open standard. We don't own it, Bluesky doesn't own it, and no single entity controls it.
10. Termination
By you
You can stop using Sifa at any time by signing out. Your profile data remains in your Atmosphere account and Sifa will continue to display it unless you delete your account. If you want to delete your account and remove your data from our database, see section 11 of our Privacy Policy for what gets deleted and what options you have. You can also choose to have Sifa delete your id.sifa.* records from your Atmosphere account, though we can only modify records you've authorized us to access.
By us
We can suspend or terminate your access to Sifa if you violate these terms (see section 5 for the process). We can also discontinue the service entirely, though we'd give reasonable notice if we did. In all cases, your Atmosphere account data is unaffected.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll post the updated version at sifa.id/terms with a new date. For material changes, we'll give at least 14 days notice by email (if you've provided one) or by prominent notice on the site.
If you continue using Sifa after the changes take effect, you accept the updated terms. If you don't agree with a change, stop using the service and delete your account if you want your data removed from our database.
12. General
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Singi Labs from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from (a) your violation of these terms, (b) content you publish through Sifa, or (c) your violation of any third party's rights. This doesn't apply to the extent that the claim arises from our own negligence or willful misconduct.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
Entire agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines, are the entire agreement between you and Singi Labs regarding Sifa.
Assignment
If Singi Labs is acquired or transfers its operations to another entity, we'll notify you at least 30 days in advance. You may terminate your account before the transfer takes effect. If you continue using Sifa after the transfer, you accept the new operator. The new operator will be bound by these terms as they existed at the time of transfer. You can't assign your rights under these terms to someone else.
No waiver
If we don't enforce a particular term, that doesn't mean we've waived our right to enforce it later.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in the Netherlands, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.
We encourage you to contact us at legal@sifa.id before initiating any formal proceedings. For information about alternative dispute resolution for EU consumers, visit the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
