That makes a lot of sense. Client-side verification + multi-source resolution on top of them. Appreciate the insight 🙏
Super interesting, thanks! Do clients today support fallback or multi-source resolution across these PLC mirrors, or is resolution still effectively tied to the canonical directory?
@theo.io really great, but It is a pity that this is limited to bsky.social handles. Since I moved to eurosky.social, I’ve basically been cancelled here 🤷♂️🙃
@atproto.com @bad-example.com Do you see value in independently replicating the PLC directory as well? While it’s verifiable and log-based, it’s still operationally centralized today, so mirroring it could further reduce reliance on a single service for DID resolution.
I’m not convinced that standardizing an S3-like interface would really make much of a difference. S3 already acts as a de facto standard. Most providers offer S3-compatible APIs because the ecosystem expects it, and in practice, that’s what people build on.
Interesting to see Bluesky (AT Protocol) framed around technological sovereignty, not as “just another social app”, but as a credible exit: your identity, data, and social graph stay yours, independent of any single provider. Same space as multi-cloud and local-first.
👀 Looking forward to “spaces” on atproto. This could unlock the shift from public data streams to real, permissioned apps. Big step!
enclose.horse Day 82 🥇 Excellent! 🥇 93% Seeing @tynanpurdy.com post about Enclose today. Figured that was my cue to give it a first proper shot without embarrassing myself 😄 Turned out alright.
