On freaking X, the network for people who *like* the pervert goggles.

The wave of #AI #spam is real — and the spammers are setting up cut-out companies to avoid the blow-back. The separation may preserve their precious "deliverability", but I wonder how robust this approach would be against a #GDPR challenge?

📚 Finally cracked open The Bridge, by Iain Banks. I have actually owned this one for years, and never dared to start it, because it is the last one for me; after this, there are no more books to come. 10 pages in, and yes, this is why I waited.

If the reported cyber attacks on water supplies in the US really are being carried out by Iran, that is a very unwelcome development, and one that I worry we are not at all prepared for. So far this has been a fairly old-school war, but that may be changing.

One of the questions about the #AI datacenter build-out is how long the infrastructure will be profitable — not just the physical building itself, but all the gear inside it, which becomes obsolete much faster. That’s why it’s so fascinating to hear how #AWS thinks about CapEx RoI.

Now I am literally receiving #spam offering to deal with the spam in my inbox. Just stop. I can’t imagine the click-through rate even pays for the tokens here. I am so tired.

Yet again, people are raw-dogging #AI chatbots and information that should have been private is now publicly available. Sure, users should be more careful, but at some point negligent service design needs to take some blame too.

Yes, can confirm. Any project that starts with the assumption that clean* data exists and can easily be gathered is doomed to failure. * Uniform schema, no duplication, updated on a known schedule with failures visible, etc. Whereas in actual reality null records are still a problem.

anyway, the problem is unlikely to be due to Palantir's software and much more likely because the underlying data is poorly organised, largely siloed and with inconsistent standards and nobody wants to pay to fix that even though it's step 1 because there are no quick fixes...

I am curious about using the new #Zoox service on future trips to the US, but their app is only available in the US App Store. I sent my feedback about this oversight, and let's just say that the response does not fill me with confidence about the quality of Zoox software…
