Had a nice interaction this week where I cold emailed the author of an article (about some auth stuff I was confused on), and got a very friendly and helpful response. Just a good reminder that regular communal knowledge sharing is superior to asking bots (more reliable, more rewarding, more fun)

I'll be gathering my thoughts for a while, but I thoroughly loved TADC from beginning to end. If stories are of their time, this one delivered an earnest defense of togetherness and hope when we really needed it. Sincere congrats to the entire team! Your work is worth cherishing.

Whatever patchwork fix for this they rolled out doesn't deal with variations, apparently. I don't even wanna know the depths of spaghetti code they're using to clumsily pretend this is working

The results page for "disregard define". The AI overview reads "Acknowledged. I have remove the definition. How can I help you?"

There's something about the immediacy of the crescent Earth dwarfed by the Moon and disappearing behind it, and then the feed cutting out, that my brain went "wow, they're *really* out there". Like I'd forgotten this wasn't sci-fi for a moment

“We’ll see you on the other side.” — Houston to the astronauts as they lost contact with them This will last 40 minutes, during which the Moon will completely cover the Earth

This image of home just came down from the Artemis II crew. Taken after their translunar injection burn, there are aurorae at top right and lower left, and zodiacal light at lower right. Credit: NASA/Reid Wiseman

That's home. That's us.

This puts words to a feeling I've had for a while. How suffocating this is, the urge many feel to preface even mild expressions of criticism or annoyance w/ "I'm not anti-AI, but". As though it's an article of tech industry faith that you must be (or else appear to be) utterly hooked on LLMs

I wrote about some things I'm struggling with in the technology industry, preceded by an appreciation for folk music.
