finally got to reading maevyn's post. add this one to your queue. two paragraphs that hit me particularly hard

  • I'm worried that somewhere along the line, we may have forgotten that we are all climbing the mountain together. That what has made us so successful and so resilient as a community, what has advanced computing so far so quickly, is the process of building coherence. I fear we may be practicing a sort of slash-and-burn agriculture here, where we are throwing away the coherence we have built in favor of rebuilding every dependency, customizing every piece of software, extending in every direction to solve short-term problems.

really curious where bun's story ends up in a few years; their scope story has always been at odds with what I believe is healthy for a project, and they keep doubling down on engulfing whole ecosystems
