I really like how @mu.social does this game or the companion cat. All kinds of things that promote their presence without going into the technicalities of explaining AT proto. Crucial for attracting non-tech people (which is most of us)

Being a little Belgian on an international train always makes me think there might be a murderer among the colourful cast of co-travellers.

I am on a 3 hour cross-country train ride in the Netherlands in the middle of a heatwave. Perfect AC, perfect connections and everyone on board is efficient and friendly. Trains really are to most civilised mode of transportation. However, 👇

From a strategic storytelling perspective this is a great metaphor! Leadership is about being visionary AND consequential. It is not about basically offering the same actions with a slightly different wording. New stories need new actions (and vice versa)

"Broom the soup." A lot of centrists are freaking out right now, and people are both reading too much and too little into the DSA victories, but a metaphor from my career may be helpful here. 1/?

A couple of years ago we did a summer trip to Frankfurt, reaching the city in the middle of a crazy heatwave. I remember hopping from air-conditioned place to air-conditioned place and cooling down by the river at night. Just as I was thinking about heatwaves, I came across this travel blog.

Don’t sleep on Frankfurt: https://micro.chadkohalyk.com/2026/06/24/dont-sleep-on-frankfurt.html

It could just be me but the European heatwave also seems to have slowed down new email coming in. Life continues but at a slightly slowed down, less productive, pace.

Goed artikel over realisme en mildheid in verwachtingen voor teams en hun leiders. https://boommanagement.nl/artikel/de-moed-om-realistisch-te-zijn/

“Forget the dopii, we’ll have two espressi” “Oh no, I dropped a scampo”

@damienowens.bsky.social avatarDamien Owens@damienowens.bsky.social

Back on the other site, years ago, there was a thread about the most pretentious thing people had ever overheard. Someone said they witnessed a guy at an ice cream van asking for 'two Magna'.

The heatwave that hits Europe right now feels very much like the early pandemic. We’ve reached a tipping point where the group who downplays the effects of climate change is now smaller than the group that understands it’s too late to avoid this scenario and we need to act accordingly.

There seems to be a correlation between the room temperature in my office, the amount of coffee I drink and the number of times I've shouted "oh come on!" at software that is not doing what it is supposed to be doing.

A quick hi (and more coming up)

Cool find. A trendy co-working space chose to paper their toilet walls with old magazines. This is an article (in Dutch) from the 1980s talking about the fear of computer technology (‘office automation’) causing massive job losses. Striking similarities with today’s AI story.

Yesterday, I got to present my new book (whose title translates as With Modesty, You Change Nothing) at De Winkelhaak centre in Antwerp. A million thanks to everyone who joined this wonderful evening! 🧵

Excellent podcast. (And excellent book). Give it a follow.

I'm moving general podcast posting to a separate account so I spam less about it here. Follow @thenextbest.bsky.social if you're into politics or history or both. We've got CIA blunders, nuclear weapons, Russian mercenaries and stories about Saddam Hussein's childhood

@infomaniak.bsky.social any update on when kSuite is going to be up again? It's been almost an hour

It takes a very specific mindset to put your bin bags on top of some sort of ventilation unit and say “that’ll do”. Incredible soundscape installation this one.

What an excellent show The Europeans is. One of the rare podcasts about Europe that isn’t all doom and gloom yet very informative.

@europeanspod.bsky.social avatarThe Europeans@europeanspod.bsky.social

🚨 NEW EPISODE 🚨 Has the EU got a funny bone? Susanna Kierkegaard says yes. We chat about an MEP who expensed 250kg of chocolate to the taxpayers, an unpaid electricity bill that fundamentally changed EU law, and about the democratic function of humour. www.europeanspodcast.com/all-episodes...

AI spam will become so good it will feel personalised, they said. In reality all I get is “hey [wrong name], I see you’re doing [vague thing]. Do you need [vaguer thing]?”

I have a book presentation tomorrow for my new book on strategic storytelling. I hate the 24h before such an event. It brings out insecurities I didn't even know I had. If last time is anything to go by I'll find myself swearing I'll never write another book again about 60 mins before showtime.
