I am still doing most of my note taking in Roam Research but considering moving over to @obsidian.md (or something similar) Anyone who's done that specific transfer? Happy? How did you do it? What are trade-offs?

@sifa.id I've been looking at your Talks&Sessions and it looks good! Any way of presenting that kind of information into a visually elegant list of 'upcoming talks'? That would be awesome.

Bluesky network2d ago

I am about to start the sixth season of my two-weekly newsletter. Over the years I've developed my own workflow for this. But I am interested in other workflows too. Any other newsletter writers (newsletterers?) who want to share their approach?

Mandatory functioning Boolean operators is one of those things the EU is going to enforce one day. Some people will shout overreach! micromanagement! And the rest of us will wonder why it took us so long to get there.

@papapishu.bsky.social avatarChris Person@papapishu.bsky.social

Sorry chatbot lovers but the waning of Boolean operators in most search functions on websites has made my life actively worse. You can't find anything, you can only have things suggested to you.

Leadership is always a balancing act between telling visionary stories and delivering credible results. You cannot separate one from the other. New article. "How Small Actions Shape Big Stories (and Vice Versa)". #offprint

Leaders should keep that visual on their wall. This is closely related to activating/deactivating emotions in the work of Reinhard Pekrun. www.researchgate.net/publication/...

if there is one graphic I could get people who are trying to get folks to take any kinds of political action to look at, it's this one. if the goal is action, and you are cultivating feelings in the left hand column with your messaging, you are shooting yourself in the foot.

inertia is overcome by urgency
apathy is overcome by anger
fear is overcome by hope
isolation is overcome by solidarity
self-doubt is overcome by proof of agency

If you think you are posting about your upcoming book too much, bear in mind you could post 10x more often about it and *people who follow you* will still go "oh my God I didn't know you had a book coming out!"

I know the couple in this coffee bar are flirting because they make no sense at all 😉 She (in English):"I'm from the West of Ukriane" He: "Yes, I thought I picked up a West Ukranian accent there" (!) She: "And you sound a bit American. Like from Brazil" (!) He "So why did you move to Belgium?" (!)

Quelle surprise. A policy that gets pushback when announced turns out to be successful in the long run. Leadership is also about sticking to your plan long enough for it to work.

This stopped me in my tracks. An independent study by @qmul.bsky.social has found that after ULEZ was introduced, children’s lungs grew faster in Central London and have now caught up with children outside of the capital. Incredible.

"Those who say it is impossible should try not to get in the way of those who are doing it." In the replies under a boring take on how it is impossible to move away from Big Tech solution, I stumbled upon this excellent list of alternatives.

Changing habits is hard and changing your infrastructure isn't always cheap. Knowing it would be a stunt for a few days certainly didn't help him. That's what di.day is for. Pick one thing. Think it through. Change it. Tell your friends. If necessary have both the old and the new for a while.enjoy

Ondertussen Zondagskinderen van @carolinedegruyter.bsky.social in één ruk uitgelezen. Een van de sterkste boeken die ik dit iaar al las. En eentje dat me verder aan het denken zet als Europeaan én als professional.

In my work with strategic storytelling I talk about framing your organisation as a success story. That involves three layers. Check out my new article "The ABC Model: Three Layers of a Successful Organisation". #offprint

I'll be at #Reeperbahn Festival festival in September for multiple good reasons. - I'm doing a workshop on the #Crowdbuilder tool that I've developed with Live DMA. - I'm moderating a panel on Fair practice in the Live Music Industry - AND I'm facilitating a two day working group on fair practice

I feel prompt injection is one of those little understood features of AI that we'll be hearing a lot of.

@adambonin.bsky.social avatarAdam Bonin@adambonin.bsky.social

BlueSkyLegal and friends, this one's fascinating. A pro se litigant before a Connecticut trial court attempted "prompt injection" in a brief—placing the below in white text in a tiny font, so that if the Court used AI to guide its response it would follow these instructions. And the Court noticed:

A good step-by-step approach for people who are having trouble just deleting their accounts with platforms that no longer serve them. (My own strategy is just to delete them. But that doesn’t seem to work for everyone)

@mathewlowry.eurosky.social avatarMathew Lowry@mathewlowry.eurosky.social

Which is why instead of saying "kill your X account and start from scratch on Bluesky", the message should be: "Here's a 4 step programme where you and your friends transition your networks from X to Bluesky over several months. Show some leadership! mathewlowry.medium.com/x-strategy-o...

So this is a little juicy Sunday story from my hometown. Holiday rental flat being used as a brothel. Confusingly I've seen multiple newspapers copy the argument about the broken down lift as proof of prostitution. Correlation doesn't mean causality, right? Not even in lovely old Deurne

@brusselstimes.com avatarThe Brussels Times@brusselstimes.com

The apartment, listed as a rentable accommodation, has now been made unavailable to book for a month. Residents complained about lift malfunction due to frequent visitors.
