I like Engman’s books in general (see my reading history), and even though this isn’t a thriller per se with one big mystery, I was still hooked. It’s essentially just a bunch of characters from a Stockholm suburb, and you follow their lives over the years and see how they’re intertwined with each other.

Cozy feel good book. An ode to the slow and simple life.
View on sourceWas a solid book, but nothing too groundbreaking. Felt like a book that was probably pretty helpful a couple of years ago, but by now, I've already heard most of the arguments and tips. But maybe that's because I've read similar books/articles in the past, so the book might still work very well for others.
View on sourceTook some time to get into but the last 100ish pages were really good! Somehow the plot feels equally smart but still minimal (as in not a complex and highly random set of circumstances leading to the outcome) in the way it's set up.
View on sourceThe format is probably not for everyone but it was exactly right for me. I breezed through this book. There are a couple of twists and turns but everything comes together cleanly in the end and seems plausible. You really feel like you get a glimpse into the whole social dynamic of the protagonists in a way that a regular narration couldn't make possible.
View on sourceReally good pace and I liked the overall writing style. But the final reveal was honestly a bit of a let down and there were just too many coincidences involved.
View on sourceWell-written recounts of some of Switzerland's most high-profile crime cases.
View on sourceVery unusual crime book where the author still manages to include a few plot twist despite the reader knowing way more than the police.
View on sourceA very frightening and realistic book, but that's exactly what makes it so good! Was a bit in a reading slump before reading this one, but now I am in the flow again. Let's hope I can find another book that is as good as this one. In short: I definitely recommend reading this book!
View on sourceVery good pace as usual with a couple twist and turns. Nothing too crazy but still surprising enough.
