At risk of misunderstanding the specifications of DID (and I know the conversation has moved on, but I want to clarify my understanding), would this encoding cause problems if there was a third DID method besides did:plc and did:web?
Records are more interesting. I don't know that I would want to impose my preference of blogging site onto people reading my standard.site posts. Same with microblogging--although some non-microblog apps use Bluesky post records. Skylight creators might prefer a universal link that goes to Skylight?
DIDs I think are straightforward: A universal link to my DID should display my profile the way I designed it. If you want to share my profile on a different platform, use a site-specific link.
Intrigued by the idea of who gets to determine the platform for viewing a universally linked DID or record..................... I've seen pitches both ways on my timeline. Let users consume media the way they want. Let creators be perceived the way they consented to / intended.
Definitely a talk to VOD if you didn't have the chance to catch it live! The demo rocked. Putting the P in PDS!!
I actually think @chaosgreml.in brought a CO2 meter and said there was decent ventilation! or am I off my rocker?
Yes!! Or some combo of leaflet and semble if you wanted to link out to external publications? There are so many use cases, it would be interesting to get a survey of all of them. Was thinking about the equivalent for actors--something like actorsaccess.com or backstage.com
I think because people already understand the affordances of links -- if I put something.that.looks.like.a.link in a bio or on my business card, people know to type that into the browser to find info about me. A contextless/icon-less @handle might be harder to parse for people (yet)
Yes, originally I was picturing anna.germnetwork.com navigating somewhere different from @anna.germnetwork.com but Bryan sort of has me sold on why don't we just blur the social/web line
(site.bnewbold.net if you want some kind of squarespace managed webpage lolol)
