• Designed and implemented web clients (Ember.js, Backbone) and Android apps talking to a JSON API backend. • Converted undocumented build processes based on bash and Eclipse to a documented Gradle workflow which resulted in a reduced developer onboarding time. • Introduced static analysis tools, unit and acceptance tests for the backend services that caught dozens of bugs. Implemented a CI process based on Jenkins to let these tests run on every commit. • Gave workshops on how to use Git for beginners and developers coming from CVS/SVN.

crates.io is the package registry for the Rust programming language. I have been contributing to the project since 2015, officially joined the team in 2019 and have been co-leading the team since 2021. The backend is based on Rust, with a custom web framework (due to legacy reasons), and a Postgres database. The frontend is written using the Ember.js SPA framework.

Cross-platform moving map application for glider pilots including in-flight analytics and collision avoidance features. The open source project is being developed by an international team of experienced developers and has over 50k active users on the Android platform alone. My main contribution to the project was porting a majority of the subsystems from C code written for Windows Mobile to portable C++11 code to be used in the ongoing Android port.
