Building Skysquare to be a real-time context layer for the open web on the AT Protocol, reconnecting public discourse back to the source material it references. Skysquare ingests Bluesky activity in real time, detects referenced URLs, and reconstructs conversation at the level of the original page—allowing readers to see how a work is being interpreted directly in context. Designed for high-information use cases across journalism, research, and analysis, with a focus on restoring context as a first-class object and making authorship and interpretation legible within the flow of reading.

Semiotic Strategist | Narrative Architect | Cultural Logic Consultant Strategic brand advisor with 10+ years of experience evolving from marketing systems to epistemic infrastructure. I specialize in diagnosing symbolic misalignment, mapping cultural logic, and reframing brand narratives at the structural level. My work draws from rhetorical theory and semiotics—not just to say the right thing, but to mean the right thing. Where others optimize campaigns, I realign meaning. Where others push content, I engineer coherence. CORE CAPABILITIES Symbolic Diagnostics Surface embedded messages in brand structure and language. Resolve interpretive drift and reorient public perception. Cultural Logic Mapping Analyze audience meaning systems to position brands within their symbolic terrain. Narrative Architecture Design coherent brand worldviews that scale across teams, platforms, and partnerships. Epistemic Strategy Develop frameworks that clarify institutional purpose and symbolic alignment. Advisory & Facilitation Guide founders and teams through identity shifts, narrative contradictions, and brand reframing work. THE PIVOT My earlier work built performance marketing ecosystems—automation, content, analytics. That experience revealed a truth: in an infinite media landscape, meaning is the last scarce resource. Industrial Semiotics is the evolution: From message delivery → to meaning design. From Symbolscape → to symbolic clarity. Ready to help visionary organizations clarify their frame—and build brands that hold.

Overview: Founded and operated Symbolscape as a boutique consultancy specializing in marketing systems, content strategy, and automation infrastructure. Over 15 years, the practice evolved from executional delivery to strategic narrative consulting, ultimately laying the groundwork for Industrial Semiotics. This work served as both apprenticeship and laboratory in meaning-making at scale. Key Competencies Developed: Audience Intelligence & Positioning Refined techniques for identifying emergent audience segments through media consumption patterns, psychographic overlays, and behavioral data. Learned to align messaging with cognitive and cultural context, not just demographic targeting. MarTech Architecture & Automation Deployed integrated ecosystems combining CRMs, automation platforms (Eloqua, HubSpot, Marketo, Mautic), and WordPress. Built modular systems that balanced scalability with symbolic control of the brand narrative across touchpoints. Narrative-Driven Content Strategy Directed high-volume content programs that translated complex value propositions into structured story arcs—across email, web, video, and social. Produced brand-driven microdocumentaries; led interviews, B-roll, and on-site narrative capture. Developed frameworks for persona-based messaging and journey-anchored storytelling. Customer Experience Design Mapped multi-stage journeys with layered segmentation logic to deliver resonant, time-sensitive engagement. Used analytics not only for performance tuning but as a lens into interpretive behavior. Advisory & Stakeholder Translation Served as a trusted advisor to founders, CMOs, and internal teams. Translated abstract brand vision into operational systems—while preserving voice, coherence, and strategic altitude across initiatives. Symbolscape became the proving ground for a deeper realization: Marketing doesn’t just persuade. It frames reality. The next evolution of this insight now lives as Industrial Semiotics.

The Department of Rhetoric at Berkeley trains its majors in the history of rhetorical theory and practice, grounded in argumentation and in the analysis of the symbolic and institutional dimensions of discourse. The department offers both a pragmatic understanding of the elements of rhetorical analysis--with special attention to logic, style, tropes, figures, images–and a thorough grounding in the historical development of these elements in rhetorical theory, making possible a disciplined grasp of the contemporary character of rhetoric and language. Through its emphasis on the history and theory of rhetoric, the department provides an understanding of the format of contemporary theories of argument and interpretation as well as an opportunity, within this framework, to explore the role of persuasion in pragmatic and aesthetic contexts.
