After 30 years online, I’m not sure we moved forward as much as we think. We rebuilt the same ideas: chat rooms, blogs, feeds, even servers. Just with smoother layers. It feels new until you look closer. Then it feels familiar. Maybe even simpler than before.
The winning technology is rarely the best one. It’s the one that asks the least from you. Less thinking, less switching, less risk. At some point, it just becomes the default.
I didn’t switch to @apostrophecms.com because it’s easier. I switched because I stopped caring how things look and started caring how they work.
Do you self-host for independence, learning, privacy… or just because it’s fun? I started with one domain and curiosity. Then came Debian, Docker compose, a VPN, late-night terminal sessions and way more containers than I needed. Now everything works. So I stopped building — and started using.
Ešte minulý týždeň som pozeral na svoj starý Mac mini s Linuxom a riešil, či ho vôbec ešte potrebujem živiť. Dnes veselo tuneluje cez Cloudflare, hostuje dve služby a to tvrdohlavo bez Dockera. Zdá sa, že hyperpasivita má u mňa zvláštnu formu. Namiesto apatie vznikne server. Len tak ďalej.
Nedeľa. Slepačia v tanieri. Ja migrujem doménu na Cloudflare. Nikto si to nevšimne. Ja áno. A to stačí. Radosť ako z nového auta.
Začal som Akty X od prvej série. Tentoraz v origináli. Pravda je tam niekde. V dabingu očividne nie.
