Zodiac Aerospace is now part of Safran. While transitioning from A-Level to University, I formed part of the first line of customer support, dealing directly with user queries. I used a newly-implemented LANDESK Management Suite to build new desktops, rebuild machines and deploy applications. I also took on the development of a LG SuperSign implementation. After doing research on the project and working with the business analysts, we managed to increase the size of the deployment from 3 screens to 12 in various areas of the business.

Work Experience Apprentice

SFX Technology

Oct 2013

I spent a week in this Cardiff-based computer repair shop completing a variety of tasks. No two days were the same. As part of this, I was asked to build donated machines ready for sale, by installing Windows 7 onto RM One model PCs and installing antivirus, productivity software etc. I was also tasked with ‘ghosting’ hard drives, i.e. copying hard drives so that deployment of an OS wouldn’t take as long. I also salvaged working parts from non-working computers and placed them into working PCs with faulty hardware.

Cashier

Sue Ryder

Aug 2015 - Jun 2016

While at Sue Ryder, I mainly managed the till and took payments for goods that we sold to customers. I essentially went having no idea at all to making 1 mistake on the till every few months. With the stock constantly changing this could sometimes be a difficult task, as well as deciding what goods were part of which categories. I also helped to manage the stock on the shop floor, removing old stock and replacing it with newer stock; I also helped constantly to keep this tidy and appealing to customers that use the shop. My main achievement while volunteering at the charity shop was fitting and maintaining the CCTV system, which used 5/6 cameras and two networked PCs to record a customer’s movement through the shop. This system worked well for a period of a few months, but has since been dismantled in favour of a professional system.
