Reviewed a movie
The Christophers
Steven Soderbergh
I went into this pretty much blind because a friend got sick and had already purchased a ticket, and it was a very lovely experience! It'd been a while since I saw a grounded drama in theaters, and they just hit differently on the big screen, huh? The Cinema! It's a great place. The movie itself was pleasant and enjoyable. McKellan and Coel are perfectly paired; McKellan can talk and gesticulate like no one else, and Coel is a master of subtlety. Bit of a jumpscare seeing James Corden on screen, but he was Fine. I also really appreciated how the movie respects your time. It doesn't linger in things like "will he find out???" for very long; it hits the conflict, gets something interesting out of it, then keeps things moving - for a grand total of 100 minutes. What a blessing!

Still thinking about this piece. It resonates with me deeply. LLMs for coding are like asbestos - they do get the job done, but there is a serious long-term price to be paid (on multiple levels).
I appreciated this article by Michael Taggart, on the temptation to use some of these coding tools and the pitfalls, from the POV of an experienced software engineer. This is why it's important to fight these issues collectively rather than at the individual level. taggart-tech.com/reckoning/
For me personally it's banana. The texture is inexplicably off putting, and the flavor does not work for me (though maybe it's my mental association with the texture). I wish this wasn't the case, but I just can't handle it. Banana bread can be okay, sometimes, but it's always a gamble.
