I'm actually relatively optimistic about robotics as developing awareness of an area and how to move through it is something neural networks are pretty good at with reasons to expect improvement, but as long as they keep putting these dumbass robots on two legs they're worse than useless.
i've been thinking a lot about this as i'm about to shut down my fediverse instance of queer.dev. It's not worth the $20/mo i pay for a service i alone use, but that data won't go with me if i move to another site, just my followers.
The idea is that all of your data lives in your PDS and can be replicated and backed up, and migrating doesn't require you to have the permission. Whereas migrating from one ActivityPub server to another ActivityPub server usually does require some cooperation between those two servers.
