I checked out @sifa.id, a LinkedIn-like site built on the AT Protocol, and ended up adding a profile with my imported LinkedIn data. A really interesting project that showcases integration with other apps in the Atmosphere, leveraging your existing public data. sifa.id/p/frankhecke...

I wrote about moving from Bluesky to @blackskyweb.xyz, and why. frankhecker.com/2026/05/16/f...

This has to be the funniest thing I've seen on X, ever. Read it for yourself, I'm not going to spoil it. (Alt text provided, of course.)

Screenshot of a tweet on X: "I put a prompt injection into my LinkedIn bio and recruiters are messaging me in Old English and calling me Lord."

This is a really excellent post on the background and promise of @subvert.fm from a musician’s perspective. Recommended if you’re curious about the service.

@subvert.fm is here! 🎉 ln conjunction with its release, I wrote an overview on my site about the auspicious prospects this collectively-owned platform brings to the world of independent music on the net. Read up with the link below! #subvert #blog #musicsky #bandcamp

I just made two purchases on the newly-launched @subvert.fm site: Two albums by @zoekeating.com (modern classical, found by looking for launch posts by musicians), two albums by Educated Owls (post rock by DC-area musician, found by trying stuff at random). What will you buy today?

Today Is the official launch of the new co-op music download service @subvert.fm. I'm a supporter-member (#1000) but you don't have to be a member to buy albums or tracks. 100% of the purchase price goes to musicians, but you can (and should!) add something extra to help keep the service running. 1/

Seeing a post by @tesseralis.site reminded me of numerology in the works of the electronic duo @boardsofcanada.bsky.social. See for example www.hhv-mag.com/feature/on-n... and bocpages.org/wiki/Inferno... (latest album, out May 29!)

Went looking for an old CBS Morning News video, went to the CBS new website. 3 dozen ads and CBS/Paramount+ promos later, still no video. Went to YouTube, a minute later I was watching it. Network TV is so screwed.

Two more notes while I'm talking about Blacksky: First, it took less time for me to migrate from Bluesky hosting to Blacksky hosting than it did for me to write the thread about my move. It really is easy and painless if you follow the instructions: docs.blacksky.community/migrating-to... 1/

Incidentally, notice what I didn't put in the prior thread? Stephen Hawking: "Someone told me that each equation I included in the book would halve the sales." I didn't want to use the terms "AT protocol", "PDS", "relay", "app view", etc., lest each one halve the number of folks reading to the end.

Notice anything different? I'm no longer on Bluesky, I'm now on Blacksky (@blackskyweb.xyz). The technology underlying all this (gestures...) allows me to move my digital identity (@frankhecker.com) from one hosting service to another. I _was_ using Bluesky's service. Now I'm using Blacksky's. 1/

I'm seeing misinformation about Tokyopop "going public". Not true. They are offering people a chance to purchase non-voting Class B shares in a private company. To quote Tokyopop's SEC filing: "There is not now and may never be a public market for the Securities." See: www.sec.gov/Archives/edg... 1/

Oh, wow, this reminds me of 25+ years ago when I contributed some annotations to www.barbelith.com/bomb/index.htm Good luck to this new project, I hope it finds some folks who have even more thoughts on The Invisibles than we did back then.

Since today is Witch Hat Atelier Day, to mark the release of the anime I thought I'd link to an old post of mine riffing on a major theme of the show: we can create our own magic with pen and paper, but making it real is not nearly as easy as it is in fiction. frankhecker.com/2022/11/03/r...

Left: In an illustration from the manga Witch Hat Atelier, the young witch Coco explains how to create a magic spell by drawing a diagram. Right: A Feynman diagram showing a neutron (composed of one up quark and two down quarks) decaying into a proton (composed of two up quarks and one down quark) and a weak boson, which then in turn decays into an electron and an electron antineutrino.

My suggestion: Even if you don't rely on Blacksky (and I don't), consider supporting them financially (like I do). They're doing valuable work and they don't have $100M+ in the bank to get it done. And consider making a recurring contribution: it will help Blacksky get to a sound financial footing.

I single-handedly run all the same technology that Bluesky, the ~40 person, $136M company does. My @blackskyweb.xyz team does full-stack content-moderation, ships products core to our mission + partners with orgs so we can be a long-term sustainable business If you rely on us pls pay a subscription

Final thread on exporting BookWalker manga/LNs: It's clear that launch of the new BookWalker website and apps was rushed to meet a March 31 deadline for the change in ownership to M12 Media, hence the missing features. .lcpl export is a stop-gap solution for reading in other readers or for backup 1/
