Information architecture both *can* and *should* play a more essential role in organizations. The key, I propose, is in our interface with software developers, because they're the ones who have the final say in what the user interacts with. What we need to do is get better at producing artifacts that developers can directly consume—situations where a spreadsheet won't cut it.
