I worked as a research fellow at the Lichtenberg Kolleg in the project The diaries of Anne Frank. Research—Translations—Critical Edition. This project is a collaboration between the Lichtenberg Kolleg at the Georg August Universität Göttingen and the Fritz Bauer Institute in Frankfurt. It involves a new historical-critical edition of the diaries in Dutch, English and German as well as an accompanying multi-author research monograph. I am responsible for the annotations of the new edition as well as involved in planning the monograph for which I will contribute a chapter on wartime Yiddish diaries. I was the developer of the new version of the Dutch history portal Historici.nl. In addition I organised a workshop on digital history and edited a special issue of BMGN - Low Countries Historical Review on digital history (to be published in december 2013). I also developed and taught a course on digital history for Huygens ING and NIOD employees (with my NIOD colleague Hinke Piersma).
Research project "Migration and politics in Jewish history. A comparison of Jewish migrant responses to anti-Semitism in Paris and London in the late 1930s".
I built and maintain the internet portal European History Primary Sources at http://primary-sources.eui.eu/.
PhD thesis in the Department of History and Civilization of the EUI on Jewish volunteers who fought in the International Brigades during the Spanish Civil War.

The project aims to open up a range of additional and new perspectives, exploring the history of Anne Frank and her diaries within the framework of more comparative European, if not global cultural, intellectual, literary and political history.

EHPS is a joint initiative of the Library and the Department of History and Civilization of the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
