Primary spokesperson for the Libertarian Party in public and in the media.

- **Deputy Public Defender at Colorado State Public Defender** (2009 – 2014)
  Represent indigent clients in felony criminal matters at all stages from investigation through jury trials and post-judgment filings. Tried over 25 criminal jury trials to a verdict, most recently a complete acquittal in a First Degree Murder case.

## Projects

- **U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Technical Directorate - Infrastructure Plan for Information Technology**
  Interviewed managers to determine their requirements for automated project management, Intranet and Internet accessibility and open data base connectivity.

Developed a matrix or requirements gathered to evaluate a set of Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) software candidates for fulfilling those requirements.

Made recommendations of COTS tools to procure.
- **Acquisition Reform Office: Knowledge Management Initiatives**
  As Deputy Development Lead with the Department of the Navy's Acquisition Reform Office's Knowledge Management (KM) initiative, managed a team of 10 people in building a component-based web application, integrating ColdFusion, SQL Server, and Verity K2 Search Engine.

Drafted architectural and system design, translating user requirements into a finished product. Led efforts to create a repeatable, structured development process, based on the Rational Unified Process, which would remain responsive to rapidly evolving requirements. Implemented configuration control and test procedures.

Developed technical documentation and development standards for the development of web-based KM systems.

Developed components to be integrated into the delivered project.

Created a strategy for ongoing requirements analysis efforts.
- **US Census Bureau: WebCATI Redesign**
  As Project Manager, led an integrated team of 20 government and contractor personnel in the redesign of a Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) system.

The existing DOS-based system was to be redesigned as a web-based Java (J2EE) application using the Unified Process. In addition to the software requirements analysis and design tasks, the project also included creating a software development infrastructure that the customer could use in future development efforts.

This infrastructure comprised Embarcadero modelling tools, iPlanet Application and Web servers, running in a clustered environment using Sun hardware architecture.
- **Global Combat Support System – Army (GCSS-A)**
  Led the Security Integrated Product Team (IPT) in the design and development of the Security Access Module (SAM) of GCSS-A.

Worked with representatives from each of the stakeholder organizations to develop a coherent security strategy that met the customer’s needs and complied with the Department of Defense Security Criteria and Processes.

Translated the security requirements into a design that integrated with the other modules of the cross-platform Oracle application.

Identified issues with the security policy, and brought them to the attention of the working groups responsible.
