## About

👋 Hello, I'm Rodrigo!
👦🏻 I'm a software developer with a deep passion for open-source software and the art of writing clean, maintainable, and robust code.
👨🏻‍💻 My expertise spans from front-end web development using JavaScript to architecting DevOps infrastructure with tools like Kubernetes. My professional journey has been diverse, starting in the close-knit environment of a 6-person startup at the Purdue Research Park, to working on cloud native infrastructure projects affecting hundreds of engineers at Salesforce, to everything in between. This blend of experiences has gifted me a unique perspective, allowing me to approach projects with both a detailed and broad lens. Right now I am creating a data and control plane for DERs to help accelerate the Green Energy transformation that is so critical to our future.
🏔️ Beyond the digital realm, I have a profound appreciation for movement, and the natural world. Whether it's diving, gymnastics, climbing, or any outdoor activity, I cherish the thrill of adventure and exploration.
🧑🏻‍🏫 Teaching is another passion of mine; had I not ventured into software, I might have been a teacher. I tutored throughout highschool and taught with Girl Develop It for 3 years. Who knows, maybe I'll end up in a classroom yet.
🫂 Community engagement is also close to my heart. I've help build trails and bridges with the RRGCC, advocated for climbers with the American Alpine Club, recruited and fundraised for Surf For Life, and currently, I'm helping NYC Mesh in their mission to provide affordable internet to New Yorkers.

## Involvement

### Volunteering
- NYC Mesh (Mar 2020 - Present)
  Network Technician
Help provide affordable and neutral internet to everyone who needs or wants it in NYC. Like a lot of Mesh volunteers I help out in a bunch of different ways:
\* Light high altitude work to install and maintain large hubs
  \* Network maintenance
  \* Hardware configuration & installation
\* General community support & engagement
- Girl Develop It (Jan 2015 - Oct 2018)
  Teacher and TA
As a Girl Develop It Instructor and TA I've taught several of the classes offered through the Indianapolis chapter. Some of these include Intro to JavaScript, Intro to Web Concepts, and Intro to HTML and CSS. I highly enjoy the experience of teaching and helping students learn more about web development and technology in general.
- Surf For Life (Feb 2015 - Sep 2018)
  Surf for Life Ambassador
As an ambassador for Surf for Life I am the main point of contact for any Indianapolis based Salesforce employee when they have questions or want to know more about SFL. I organize regular Lunch 'n' Learns to spread the word about SFL and its mission in Indianapolis. And I coordinate with the Surf for Life team to bring the most up to date information about volunteering opportunities to my coworkers in Indy.
- Surf For Life (Feb 2015 - Mar 2015)
  Overseas Volunteer
As a volunteer for a Surf for Life trip to Guatemala I provided funding and work hours to build a high school in the coastal town of El Paredon. I was also involved in organizing educational activities for local elementary school children. And by interacting with the local building crew I was able to gain a better understanding of their community and motivated some of them to sign up for english classes.
