## Experience

- **Principal Developer Experience Engineer at Netlify** (2019 – 2021)
- **Head of Developer Relations at Gatsby Inc** (2018 – 2019)
  I worked to create a welcoming, engaged, and creative community of developers across all ranges of skill. I developed programs to incentivize open source participation, increase brand awareness and good will, and support independent groups of developers who were excited to connect with each other and share their experiences of building with Gatsby.
- **Senior Software Developer / Software Architect at IBM** (2016 – 2018)
  I worked on the IBM Cloud platform and focused mainly on front-end performance, maintainability, and internal education/developer experience. My overarching goal was to improve teams' productivity and happiness by improving the experience of working with IBM Cloud's tech stack and internal tools. Projects included a GraphQL data federation layer in a microservices architecture, starter templates to standardize and document common practices within IBM Cloud, and improved internal testing, documentation, and DevOps processes.
- **Developer-Focused Media Consultant at Sentry (sentry.io)** (2023 – 2024)
  I helped Sentry create short-format content to connect with developers.
- **Developer-Focused Creative Partner at CodeTV** (2018 – present)
  CodeTV makes tv for developers. We team up with developer-focused companies like Microsoft, GitHub, Google, Amazon, Sentry, Clerk, and many more to create unique, creative, and — above all — *highly effective* campaigns to get developers talking about (and trying!) dev-focused tools and products.
- **Research and Development Engineer at Precision Nutrition** (2015 – 2016)
  I worked on rapid prototyping and idea validation using experimental tech. I partnered directly with the founders to identify areas of opportunity, workshop potential solutions, and deliver proof of concept applications for real user testing and validation. Projects were largely focused around realtime collaboration, remote presentation, and workshop facilitation tools.
- **Owner at Ennui Design** (2005 – 2010)
  Web development for small businesses and individuals, specializing in custom content management systems and personalized solutions for web projects.
- **Founder at Copter Labs** (2011 – 2014)
  Copter Labs was a boutique web development agency focusing on SMBs in fitness. In the early 2010s, we built websites for local gyms, personal trainers, fitness retailers, supplement companies, and others in the health and fitness industry.
- **VP of Developer Experience at Netlify** (2021 – 2022)
  Developer Experience sits at the intersection of engineering, community, education, marketing, and product — we act as a bridge between different areas of concern to ensure that Netlify is an excellent partner to the ecosystem (we want to be the tide that lifts all ships), that we remain the most enjoyable developer experience in the industry, and that we continue to deliver valuable improvements to our customers. I focus on strategy and enablement, creating clarity and clear goals so the team is able to execute confidently and use all their energy on creativity instead of unnecessary cognitive load from messy processes.
